The U.S.S Kitty Hawk is more than just a group of Star Trek fans. We are dedicated to serving and helping our local communities. See some of the organizations and volunteer events that members of the Kitty Hawk serve below.
Adopt-A-Highway

The USS Kitty Hawk has adopted part of NC Highway 751 and goes out quarterly to help beautify our community and deter native wildlife from investigating the road. Our highway cleanups are open for public signup! Please reach out to sfi.usskittyhawkevents@gmail.com for more details.
Food Bank

Our members volunteer throughout the year to help package hundreds of pounds of food by volunteering with our local Food Banks. We end the year with a member food drive. In 2024, we collected 245 pounds of donations!
Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is one of our newer community service organizations, but our community members have already been a part of three builds. We hope to be even more involved in the coming years!
Toys for Tots

For several years, members of the USS Kitty Hawk have made the last few months of a year a season of giving. One such way is through our Toys for Tots drive.
The Maggie Society

Not all of our members are based in the Triangle, so we find our service extending beyond the Raleigh-Durham area as well. The Maggie Society is a nonprofit dog rescue in Wilson, North Carolina. We are proud to support an organization that strives to find fosters and forever homes for our paw-some furry friends.
Stop Soldier Suicide

Spearheaded by the 105th Marine Strike Group, crewmates on the Kitty Hawk hold a fundraiser for Stop Soldier Suicide each March. For our third fundraiser in 2025, our CO has issued two challenges to support the endeavor: walk 31 miles during the month, or ride 400 miles on a motorcycle.
Our members also volunteer at events such as Cary’s Lazy Fair, Artsplosure, and Astronomy Days. Check out our volunteer gallery to see our away teams in action!
